Saturday afternoon art classes

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

I have started running Saturday afternoon classes near Stroud via Air BnB experiences.  For me it’s all about using reclaimed materials.  A class currently costs £27 per person inclusive of all materials, equipment and refreshments.  Here is more about what to expect!

ABOUT THE CLASS

You’ll be welcomed to the workshop with a hot or cold drink. It will be a small, friendly group so you will have a chance to get to know me and your fellow painters, before I demonstrate the range of reclaimed paint and materials on offer that day. During the week, my studio is a car body repair shop – so we will always have left over automotive paints and a wealth of reclaimed household paints.

There will be canvases, cardboard, and other materials to paint on and a range of brushes and tools to use. A still-life will be set up, and I can offer structured instruction if you chose to paint this. If you would rather paint something else in the studio, I would encourage you to experiment. You might want to explore the materials and paint in an abstract way, or paint something from your mind or copy a picture you have brought with you.

You can also choose where you will paint – you might like an easel, a table or to work on the wall or floor – whatever you are most comfortable with – we have lots of space and it’s ok to make a mess! Because you might not have used these materials in a creative way before, I will be on hand to guide and advise you.

The whole experience lasts 2.5 hours (but I won’t hurry you to put down your brush). You are free to take your creation away with you, and if it’s not dry, we have the space to store it until you come back at a later date.

WHERE IS MY WORKSHOP

The workshop is in a single storey, timber framed industrial unit, on the Ryeford Industrial Estate, which is in between Stroud and Stonehouse. Postcode GL10 2LA

ABOUT ME

I am a British curator, graffiti artist and painter based in Gloucestershire. Although I have a Masters in Fine Art, I spray cars for a living and enjoy working with waste auto paint in my art work. I’m passionate about repurposing – using reclaimed canvases and paint, and saving things from landfill. I have lots of teaching experience and have run workshops in primary schools, businesses and Universities. Over the past 30 years, I have held exhibitions of my work in many countries (usually in odd locations!) and many of my paintings are in private collections. Three of my paintings are held in the UK Government Art Collection.
