A trip down memory lane yesterday, as I pounded the pavement in Bristol taking in some Banksy’s that weren’t there when I last lived there, and Grayson Perry at the Arnolfini that wasn’t there before either. I was going to write a long eloquent piece about the changing face of Stokes Croft and what it was like as a teenager in the 1980’s not realising that Massive Attack and street art were ever going to be that big, but I decided on a few photos instead. Think of it as a photographic essay. Worthy of note is that Mad Harry’s Amusements can still be found (closed of course) and Slix chicken fast food appears to have survived the last 30 years without changing its sign above the door. Good to spot it later in the day on the “Crack Alley” documentary too. Ah, Bristol….not everything has changed.
